Protein Choices
This is the portion size on your plate that constitutes protein... The following are you best (but not only) protein choices. Skinless Chicken Turkey Fish Very lean cut of meat Egg Whites Low fat Dairy Tofu Soy meat substitutes Post thoughts to comments.
Protein is the toughest thing about the zone for me because it's the toughest thing to make interesting. When I'm trying to do strict zone, obviously roasted chicken or fish is the best bet, but there is great protein out there like that pot roast from yesterday. BUT -- what about the sauce? Do you count it as a carb block? I could stomach proteins a lot better if I had good sauces to go with them that were not too harmful!
Also -- dinner last night was not really dinner. I wound up grazing all day, again away from home. I do manage to "think blocks" though, so I think that even when I am wavering a bit, I am still closer to zone than not. I'm back home in SC now, so dinner tonight will be STRICT! Will report back later.
Jon- The sauce for the roast was nothing more than 2 cups beef broth, 1/2 cup whole wheat flour, 3 TB tomato sauce, 1 tsp thyme, salt and pepper. Pretty zone friendly!!!
Bodybuilding dot com says beans and Peanut butter are good snacks because of their protein...I'm just sayin'...

ReplyDeleteI am not sure which scares me more...that they think beans and peanut butter are protein, or that you are quoting bodybuilders.com
