I generally make turkey taco meat once a week for a dinner. It is a very versatile use for ground turkey and the leftovers can be used for a variety of recipes. This is a pita taco which makes a great quick lunch!
Pita Taco- 2 blocks
1/2 whole wheat pita (1 block carb)
3 oz turkey taco meat (2 blocks protein)
1/2 oz cheddar cheese (1 1/2 blocks fat)
Side-
Sugar Snap Peas (1 block carb)
1 tbl hummus (1/2 block fat)

Michelle asked the other day for us to comment on how the zone has affected us. I didn't respond at the time because quite frankly, the question spawned such a thought process that I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to answer conicsely enough for a blog comment. So here's the most condensed version that I could come up with:
For my entire life I have had food issues; mostly just overeating but in my twenties I had eating disorders as well. Over the years the eating disorders faded (mostly) although the occasional 'whole-small-pizza(or box of ice cream)-in-a-sitting' still occurred several times a year. We just finished a 'zone challenge' over at CF Westside and although the only thing that I really measured was my weight I can tell you that for once in my life I have a handle on my eating issues. It almost feels that overnight I 'got it'. I feel energetic but not to an extreme. Running is easier and I pretty much hated running before the zone challenge. I've lost ten pounds. I get tired sometimes but I haven't in the entire eight weeks felt that "I can't even function today" exhaustion that I seemed to have at least once a week. I feel even-keeled in the sense of energy. I'm in a good mood. My cage doesn't rattle so easily. I am literally a different person! THAT is a true story!
Gloria,
Truly inspirational to hear the changes. You are always such a great addition to the Crossfit classes and I am so happy to hear that this piece is falling into place for you as well. You look fantastic and I know you feel better so keep up the good work and know that we are all there to support your efforts! Thanks for the great comments!
